Lightbulb FoWSC R/A T1&T2

I guess everyone knows you can do the "rangersplits" in FoW to make it possible for your ranger buddy to terra in FoWSC. It is just as easy to do the normal splits, but for some reason that's a hella lot less known. The usual reply to T1 on a ranger is: "They remove whirling". Yes, they do but if you blind them they dont. You can get almost as fast as a sin on Menzies, really.

Here I've linked a simple guide for Menzies, and if you need it, part 2 shows the rest of the run as T1.

Just like T1, the standard T2 can easily be done on a ranger. Most of it is part of the R/A splits anyway.
A simple guide on how I do T2, not saying it's perfect:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TD-RxnzO8Hc

The main problem with regular t1 on ranger is exactly that, whilst yes blinding them does help, it still isnt a guarantee, blinding them is unreliable and whilst it can do a similar time on a good run as you have demonstrated, it can also have horrendously bad runs, just like ranger T3s, it simply isnt worth the grief for the most part. And yes you may argue sins can have "bad runs" with sliver rupts etc, but that is a lot less common and is more bad playing than simply bad luck like a chop on whirling.

Another thing is that, rangers do Khobay quicker than a sin can, they only need 1 mob and still finish in a matter of seconds, whereas a ranger can only go at the same speed if not slower than sins at Menzies, so it only makes sense to do the regular ranger split, which is why it is favoured over the traditional 2 terra split.

It is nice someone has finally done a video for ranger terra though, there really arent any current videos around of a decent quality so thanks for that, may i just point out that i've seen people attempt to do ranger terra and died with Dark Escape up at tos from taking "too much damage"(how is beyond me), so your bar may not be too viable for inexperienced ranger terras :P(an easy solution is just changing ymlad to DE, although it does slow down priest, it is a nice safety net for people at ToS when they are pulling) Also, you may want to add a video of the 8mesmer prep at the same time as ToS quest, largely because it can be quite difficult for some, and surprisingly it is quite unknown, too, and if you are doing the mage yourself the 8(or 6) mesmers is nice to have.

What you say here is true, tho I always have menzies done within 15 minutes (Whirl got removed ten times in a row o.O). Then the amazing speed at which a Ranger can do the rest really shines. As of ranger T3, I wont say too much but if you know how you can reduce the amount of beserkers needing killed to a minimum with a huge aggro. That way it gets quite ez.

Your ToS suggestion is good, though I'd say getting mental block in over dark escape. People can always use Whirldef when it gets hard then. I can get a pic up on the usual blockspot which should be enough Imo. You, or atleast I pull everything to same spot while prepping.

(P.S. Menzies was horrible tho I got strange luck with his casting. He just stopped casting at random times if you look closely)

Yah doing 3man we had a weird tactic which we dropped involving me handling 2 berserkers with 3 caster mobs and i had it removed 3 times in a row, gets quite enraging at times, it really can be a pain. the T3 point was merely a point of comparison as to how annoying having the skill removed is :P

Dark escape/mental block both are fine, i guess, and the ranger's speed really can make up for the shitstorm that can occur on battlefield^^ And yeah i do indeed do ToS there, the blockspot just isnt known enough :P

i guess you can always post this on pvx and put the vids on there in a hopes to get the ranger Terras better known, not sure how many people actually stalk these forums and who of those who arent already familiar with what rangers can do

Tbh, if with 2 beserkers ur whirl get removed 3 times in a row ur luck is more RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed than mine, which is quite hard. Having whirl removed is good staying alive training for tos imo.
Got any ideas on what to change for a faster run?

was at work so sorry for uber late response

Uhm theres not really much you can speed up, in all honesty. I personally like HoS but you arent doing hunt/khobay, so you have nothing to skip jump with, really haha.

Imo, Technobabble is another option as well as ymlad, mainly because it allows you to jump straight up to Menzies and when the beast pops use Techno and auto the priest, that is again preference, ymlad = techno, its all the same, really.

I'd say that Burning is pretty much pefect, the only difference i do (again preference) is that after im about 3/4 of the way to the slaves spawn, i go left and go round the outside, this is purely so that i aggro all mobs at once, you can go round the left side cross the house and then stop in the middle (i guess i can video this to show you what i mean), the only difference is that it allows you to aggro all the mobs a little easier, the only difference being you arent running straight in. Pinging the shard wolf also helps a shit ton, you can kill slaves and target the wolf and then just go straight to him, saves you remembering

ToS is again, perfect, 8 mesmers is ideal for this (and considering speed you should have time to do all 8). Only annoying thing is when you get a retarded shard wolf spawn and have to aggro the monk groups - which can make them heal the abyssals on the blockspot (which is a pain in the ass)

My last option for ranger terras is not for regular t1 but for the generic ranger split, if you put EVAS on your bar instead of Dark Escape(because you dont really need this) you can efficiently kill cave wolf every time in ~1minute by pulling the stationary + patrol on the way to hunt, the one that patrols by cave and the other patrol, you can stop + whirling the wolf, (yes it is doable without EVAS but it takes 1-2+minutes), you then just pop whirling and use EVAS and FH!, effective cave wolf kill in ~1 whirling or less, his hp fluctuates hardcore, so fh! can be tricky :P this is entirely if you are doing with a split terra who is a) bad at menzies/slow at it, or b) hates/cant do the cave wolf efficiently, just allows for an easier kill and helps the ranger a bit :P

And yes- my luck sucks ass, 1/3 of the runs i did that mob with, i got it removed, and sometimes multiple times, it really is annoying :P I'd say that staying alive at ToS is easy if you know how, i have been considering a sort of recovery guide to ToS//Burning Forest for ranger terra. Simple things like if SF drops and DS gets removed with abyssals up, to just relax pop Whirling drink some alc (if necessary) and kite untill DS is recharged, then run ->hos and recast DS to survive (or use SF if it is needed before DS recharged), most people who get DS removed just panic and die :P simple tricks like this can save a ranger terra.

There really isnt much else - is a very good guide already

Isn't possible to ignore the berserkers all-together as T1? Aggro only the caster group at start, kill monk and rangers (should be doable with ymld and fh), then grab all groups run to Menzies bring casters in range jump up and kill him before berskerers go all the way around and and get you... Just theory-crafting...

Well for camp you got 3 shadow rangers + 2 impalers + 4-5 skeletal casters if you hit only the shadow monk at first so shadow rangers don't stop attacking to cast troll unguent it should go down pretty decently. OP's video doesn't skip Menzies melee.

whirling does 13 damage -the monk will probably outheal that - you can test it though, i guess you can ymlad his heals + fh etc etc.

And thats prolly for video's sake - if you're jumping its common practice to just not bother w/ the melee - doesnt really alter much, tbh.

If you pull a bit it's possible to get 2 caster groups at camp but I prefer this way in the vid I RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up quite badly. Normally you hit all rangers+monk. You kill monk then FH beast when recharged and in meantime the rangers drop. Usually the zerks even survive. I prefer killing zerks at menzies usually since Im quite terrible at killing him fast enough
As for cave wolf, ymlad+FH results in fast kills for me usually, I just aggro everything in compass range and wait till he drops.

I might retry dc'ing up, as it should save a lot of time and I wanna see Menzies dead at 3age.
